Oral Cancer Screening Clinics In Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey is a densely populated city with a large population of people who are at risk for developing oral cancer. Every year, thousands of people in Istanbul are diagnosed with this potentially deadly disease. In order to help reduce the number of deaths due to oral cancer, many medical institutions in Istanbul are now offering free oral cancer screenings to the public.

These clinics are located in various places throughout the city, including general dentists' offices, university clinics, hospitals, and specialized oral cancer clinics. These clinics are staffed by experienced professionals who are trained to identify the early signs of oral cancer. During the screening, the patient's mouth will be examined for any abnormalities. The patient may also be asked to answer questions about their medical and family histories, as well as their lifestyle habits.

The oral cancer screening process is quick and painless, and can be done in just a few minutes. Results are usually available within days, and patients who are found to have oral cancer will be referred to a specialist for further evaluation and treatment. Early detection is the key to successful treatment, and these screenings can help identify oral cancer in its early stages, when it is most treatable.

By offering free oral cancer screenings, the medical institutions of Istanbul are helping to reduce the mortality rate from this deadly disease. With early detection, more people can be successfully treated and go on to lead healthy, cancer-free lives.

The Importance of Oral Cancer Screening in Istanbul

Oral cancer is a major health concern in Istanbul, Turkey. It is estimated that around 800 new cases are diagnosed each year and that the mortality rate is high. Early detection and treatment of oral cancer is essential for improving survival and reducing the burden of disease. This makes oral cancer screening an important part of public health in Istanbul.

Oral cancer screening is the process of looking for signs and symptoms of cancer before there are any visible signs or symptoms. This includes examining the mouth, neck, and throat for any changes in tissue or color. It also includes taking a sample of tissue to be examined under a microscope for any abnormal cells.

Screening for oral cancer has been shown to be effective in detecting cancer at an early stage and reducing the risk of death from the disease. This is because most oral cancers are found in their early stages when treatment is more effective. Additionally, early detection and diagnosis can help to reduce the amount of time people spend in the hospital, as well as the amount of money spent on treatment.

In Istanbul, the government has taken various steps to improve access to oral cancer screening. For example, the government has established mobile clinics throughout the city to provide free screenings to residents. Additionally, the government has provided financial support to clinics and hospitals offering oral cancer screening.

Despite these efforts, there are still areas that need improvement in terms of access and quality of oral cancer screening in Istanbul. For example, many clinics and hospitals lack the necessary equipment and expertise to perform thorough screening. Additionally, the cost of screening can be prohibitive for some people, making it difficult for them to access the service.

Ultimately, oral cancer screening is an important part of public health in Istanbul and should be encouraged to ensure that people receive the care they need. The government should continue to provide financial support to clinics and hospitals offering oral cancer screening, as well as provide educational campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of oral cancer.

Methods: The study included 908 individuals diagnosed with oral cancer in Istanbul between 2010 and 2015. Data on socio-demographic characteristics, medical history, lifestyle factors, and environmental exposures were collected from medical records.
